The Chatty Caterpillars had a fun-filled day learning about another set of things that go: BOATS! We started the day off by creating a poster with pictures of a few common types of boats...

We were all so thrilled to be back out on the playground after the rain ran us off yesterday. We loved being back out to drive our favorite car:
And play tag with our friends:
Our book of the day was "Who Sank the Boat?" by Pamela Allen.
Because the book is about animals who are traveling together on a small boat, we made a chart to guess which animal would sink the boat...the bigger ones or the tiny mouse?
After we found out that it was the smallest animal, the mouse, who sank the boat, we worked together to recall the descriptions of the animals in the book...
We then "rowed" over to the science table to experiment with sinking and floating. We all got an object and had to predict whether or not it would sink or float...
Since we talked about so many kinds of boats this morning, we decided to make one of them at art. Each of us created our very own sailboat out of paper plates, toilet paper rolls, popsicle sticks, and paper...
Centers were fun today as we played memory (a Caterpillar Craze) and built garages out of blocks for our vehicles...
We closed the day by singing our new song "Rowing" and all of our other favorites. What an amazing day learning about boats that GO!
Prepare to be amazed: ask your child what song the above two pictures go with and we know they will answer correctly...the Bear Hunt is by far our favorite!
Get ready for another super fun day tomorrow, Chatty Caterpillars!
